History Lesson

Contrary to what we may think or may not want to think....Everyone has a past...We all have some sort of history behind us that makes us who we are at this point in our lives...People don't start with a "Now"....we start with a "Back Then" or a "Back When"...However, it would only seem logical that once we have moved on from our past...that we would have nothing to do with it...That we would be almost seperate from it...

But how can we be seperated from that which has made us?...That which we have broken from as we became us?...

We can't....And we tend to forget that...The things we have done...The things we have seen...They are all apart of us...Even the people we have met...

They are a part of us...

So when we get a point where we try and break away...It would only seem fair that there will be a moment where reality has to balance the equation...It starts to negate itself...And in doing so, we come to experience similar events to that which we try and forget...Similar places...and even similar people...

More specifically, I've come to find that with people, your dreams will balance the equation, too....You cannot deny where you have been...

The only thing that ever has and forever will be definite is Yesterday...

I guess that what I'm trying to get at is, there is no escaping your past...There is no escaping that part of you...All you can do is live with it...

And until you can get that done...

...then it's not quite history, is it?

History never looks like history when you are living through it. ~John W. Gardner

My point. You MUST live life to the fullest because each and every moment, eventful or not, you are creating history. Just as sure as you live and breathe, you are creating history (memories).

You can't undo it! You can't erase it...BUT you can avoid recreating the same history.

History is the sum total of the things that could have been avoided. ~Konrad Adenauer

Just as sure as history repeats itself.. the stupidity of man and war (IRAQ)...but ANYWAY...

There is your individual HISTORY that you can avoid repeating YOURSELF.

You have to remember HISTORY simply is HIS-STORY. It's your story.

Life your life (story )the way you would like for it to be told. No guarantee it will be told that way, but you can guarantee to STRIVE to live t that way.

You wrote, "All you can do is live with it...

And until you can get that done...

...then it's not quite history, is it?"

I couldn't have said it better myself.

That's my momma!!!!!!!!!

but on some real..... i try not to pay much attention to history. mainly because i live the way i do. (the premise behind the blog) but i do everything i can not to repeat history, esp if it involves making the same mistake twice. i think the best thing about being human is that we have an opportunity to write our own history, and maybe have that history become LEGEND. one day i will be LEGENDARY. believe that!!!!

I spent the first 21 years of my life enslaved to my history. I was living each day based on what had happened before, the work I'd done, my heritage... etc. etc. It was a miserable way to live! Who says that precedent and expectations MUST be followed?

Now I try to live in the present, because I finally realized, that's all we have.
